Day 1 and 2 – Kandy

Kandy, the perfect kick start to a vacation in February. This is situated in the central province of Sri Lanka and is only a few hours’ drive from the airport. After we reach Kandy we will help you to check-in and give you some freedom to relax before embarking upon the vacation. Later in the evening you can explore the city with the help of our tour guide and also take a walk around the Kandy Lake enjoying the breezy wind and the beautiful surroundings.

On the next day we will take you to visit one of the world heritage sites, the temple of the tooth relic. Kandy is considered to be the cultural capital of the island given this temple as it is the highest place of worship of the Buddhists in this country and it is believed that the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha is placed in this temple.

We have also included a visit to one of the famous flower gardens, the Peradeniya Botanical garden. Here you will be able to witness a wide variety of flowers, trees and also endangered plantations.

Day 3 – Nuwaraeliya

Nuwaraeliya is a city that is of a unique nature compared to other parts of the island. This city is situated in the hills and is blessed with beautiful natural resources such as waterfalls, tea estates, lakes and flower gardens. Moreover Nuwaraeliya has a colder climate compared to the humid weather in the rest of the island and the buildings that reminds of the ancient British architecture gives the name Little England to this city.

The Devon falls is a famous waterfall that the travellers never forget to stop by while visiting Nuwaraeliya. If you visit the Mlesna Tea Centre you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Devon falls while sipping a hot cup of freshly brewed Ceylon tea.

In the evening we will take you to the Gregory’s Lake, the famous spot in Nuwaraeliya. This is a place where you can enjoy a long walk by the Lake in the cosy weather and you can also visit the Gregory’s Garden which is considered as the second largest garden of the country.

Day 4 and 5 – Dambulla

We will spend the next two days in Dambulla, a historical site of Sri Lanka. We have included Dambulla in this ten day tour package to show you the rich culture of the island and also to spice up the tour with a little adventure.

After checking into the hotel we will take you to Sigiriya, a rock fortress that was once a palace of a king who ruled Dambulla. After killing his father, King Kashyapa built this fortress kingdom to protect himself from his own brother, Moggalan. There is an interesting story behind this history and our guide will explain it to you while you are in this rock fortress.

Sigiriya is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning and also the ancient architecture is best illustrated in this majestic piece of history. The climb on top of Sigiriya will be both exciting and adventurous, and as you reach the top you will be left amazed with the view and the remains of the palace on the top. Apart from the breath-taking water gardens and the remains of the once proudly stood palace, you will also be amazed with the Sigiriya frescos of more than 500 beautiful ladies and the mirror wall where you will find poetry written across the walls. You can also visit the Sigiriya museum which will give you an insight in to the cultural and historical importance of Sigiriya.

Later in the evening we will take you out on a walk in the village and for a dinner in a local restaurant serving the best of a Sri Lankan meal.

On the fifth day of the tour we will take you on another hike to a rock that is situated in close proximity to Sigiriya, Pidurangala. This too has its cultural and historical importance as it was the home for a Buddhist temple during the time of King Kashyapa. Even though the climb will leave you a little out of breath, the view will worth be worth it. You will be able to witness a wonderful scenery all around the city of Dambulla including a marvellous sight of Sigiriya itself.

Day 6 – Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is considered as a world heritage site by the UNESCO and is the centre of the historical sites of Sri Lanka. Apart from its historical importance, Anuradhapura is also famous for its religious places of visit. The majority of the citizens of Sri Lanka are Buddhists and Anuradhapura is a city of temples and monuments where the devotees pay respect to throughout the year. Once you are in the “Pooja Nagaraya” or the city of the places of worship, you will see hundreds of devotees dressed up in white swarming in to these temples.

After paying respect to the Ruwanweli Seya and the Sri Maha Bodhi we will take you to visit the ruins of the ancient palaces, temples, rumbling old stone ponds and much more. These ruins are spread over a large site and the guide will take you around these sites either on a bicycle or by the famous tuk tuk of Sri Lanka.

Days 7 – Yaala

We have reserved the seventh day of the tour to enjoy the wildlife of the Sri Lanka. The country is blessed with a lot of natural resources and Yaala is one of them. This a forest bordering the south-eastern coast of Sri Lanka and is the home for a large number of wild animals such as elephants, leopards, cheetahs, lions, wild boar, crocodiles and even different species of birds and reptiles.

We will hop on to safari jeep and explore the woods in hope that you will be able to view the creatures in their natural habitat. After a bumpy ride in the forest we will take you back to the hotel for a dinner in the open air with a thousand stars above you.

Day 1 and 2 – Kandy

The first two days of the Sri Lanka tour itinerary in December will be spent in Kandy. This city is renowned as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. Kandy is situated in the hill country and is blessed with scenic beauty apart from its cultural importance.

You can catch a train up the hill from the Colombo and reach the Kandy railway station in a few hours’ time. Sigiriya

Climb the fabled Sigiriya Rock when you’re in Sri Lanka – it’s a definite must-do activity, especially if it’s your first trip to the island. Sigiriya Rock was built by King Kassapa, a patricidal king who sought refuge on this rock. He then built his fortress at the summit and his kingdom, complete with advanced water gardens and boulder gardens around it. Today, Sigiriya Rock Fortress is one of the most popular places to visit on the island. Start early in the morning to avoid the massive crowds that tend to flock in during the morning hours.

Yala National Park

Yala National Park is one of the best places to spot the Sri Lanka’s rich wildlife, from elusive leopards and shy sloth bears to gentle elephants and majestic peacocks.
